Today's action was very disappointing.  Leading stocks are just getting killed.  I am mostly staying away.

At least the number of Darvas stocks with charts in Xs went up today.  That could be a leading indicator of a recovery.

The declines in the numbers today are incredible.  This weekend everybody is talking about Monday being like Black Monday in 1987.  I don't think that is a good comparison - this is the beginning of a decline, not the end.  It is more like April 2000.  Still, even that is wrong since that was the start of the bubble popping and this is just the end of a typical bull market.

I suspect that there will be a short term bounce, which is why I bought calls near the close on Friday and will probably buy more Monday.  But I don't have much confidence in any bounce being more than a short term one.  We've had a long run, it's time for a bear market.

The market didn't really move down much today, but it did move down.  The portfolio pulled out a winning day despite MFLX getting creamed.  I pulled the stop in MFLX when it gapped down through it at the opening and it never presented a good exit.  It got taken down so much that it seems likely there will be a good bounce back rally on which to exit.

NTRI was up big and my index puts did well.  We'll see what happens tomorrow, I still feel there should be downside.

Tomorrow is a critical day.  The market goes into the Fed rate hike announcement overbought.  It seems to me there are three major possibilities: 1) The Fed raises rates and some people are disappointed there wasn't a pause and the market goes down, 2) The Fed raises rates and some people get spooked by the wording and the market goes down, or 3) The Fed pauses and people realize this means the economy isn't doing so well and the market goes down.  As you can see, this doesn't leave a possibility of the market going up.  I'm long a lot of puts in index ETFs so I am ready for a drop.  On the other hand, I could be wrong and the market pulls a rabbit out of its hat and goes up.  In that case, my long positions will do well.  Bring it on.
